“Like a Race, an Institution’s Journey Requires Patience, Perseverance, and Teamwork” — Commander Tilahun Tsegaye, CEO of Commercial Nominees

Thousands of employees, customers, stakeholders, and residents of Addis Ababa participated in the Commercial Nominees Family 5km Street Run, organized under the theme “Run Together for 60 Years of Trust.” The event brought together members of Commercial Nominees PLC, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), and the wider community in celebration of the company’s 60th anniversary.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the race, which aimed to strengthen cooperation and unity among the Commercial Nominees family, Commercial Nominees Chief Executive Officer Commander Tilahun Tsegaye stated that the event was more than a physical fitness competition.

“The race is a symbol of unity, mutual trust, partnership, and a shared vision,” he said. “We have gathered not only to run, but also to celebrate six decades of perseverance, loyalty, and success.”

Commander Tilahun noted that Commercial Nominees is determined to build on its achievements and expand into new strategic sectors. He revealed that the company plans to strengthen its engagement in the garment industry, real estate development, international manpower supply services, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and modern waste management solutions.

“Just as a race requires patience, endurance, and teamwork, so does the journey of an institution,” he said. “For 60 years, we have progressed together. Going forward, we will continue to run together, win together, and create a new chapter of success together.”

Also speaking at the event, Mr Asegedew Yeshitla, Head of the Addis Ababa City Administration Youth and Sports Bureau, expressed appreciation for Commercial Nominees’ contribution to the city’s development through its diverse service portfolio.

He further highlighted the city administration’s commitment to expanding sports infrastructure and emphasized that the numerous sports facilities developed under the principle of “Sports for All” should be accessible and utilized by all citizens.

The 5km street run served as the grand finale of a series of activities organized to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Commercial Nominees. Cash prizes and medals were awarded to the top three finishers, while certificates of recognition were presented to institutions and individuals who made significant contributions to the success of the event.

Among the participants were Mr. Yonas Lidetu, Chairperson of the Commercial Nominees Board of Directors and Vice President for International Banking at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, senior executives of CBE, high-ranking officials from the Federal Government and the Addis Ababa City Administration, as well as prominent Ethiopian artists. The event concluded with a strong message of unity, partnership, and shared commitment to future growth and success.
